  • Produce Bag October 24thOctober 20, 2025

We finally are getting some rain, and from the forecast it looks like it will be damp for a while.  We hopefully will have a few dry and warmer days so we can get our Garlic into the ground in the next two weeks, but other than that we are basically picking the last of the produce and cleaning up the fields for winter.
This is the last week we will have Thyme and Rosemary available. We also have some Cauliflower, Cabbage, Broccoli, Eggplant, Cilantro, and likely other things in limited quantities, so if you don’t see what you like on the list, feel free to ask or make a custom order of what you need.
Next week we have another round of chicken going to the butcher, so if you would like a fresh whole chicken at the end of the month let us know.  We expect these to be in the the 4-6lb range and will arrive back to the farm on October 31st around noon.

The end of September is already approaching!  Instead of rotating beds from one crop to another, we cleanup the fields, and get ready for winter as our planting migrates into the cold frames and greenhouses.  Over the next four weeks the planted crops we pick before Christmas and on October 15th those things we plant are generally harvested in the new year.
We decided to make the produce bag a little smaller this week, but we still have a lot of Radicchio, Cabbage, Basil, Cucumbers, Sage, Thyme, Rosemary, Brussel Sprouts, Broccoli, Cauliflower, and a lot of other items in limited quantities.  Feel free to customize and order what you need for pickup Friday evening.

We still have some Turkeys available for Thanksgiving.  They will goto the butcher on the morning of October 10th and return to the farm around 5pm.  So if you want a Thanksgiving Turkey we have a good selection of them this year from 10lb to 25lb as we grow three different breeds that range in weight and color.
The next chicken butcher date is at the end of October. If you want to pickup frozen chickens we have a good supply in the 3.5 to 4.8lb, and one or two over 5lb.  We also hope to get a new supply of beef back from the butcher this week as well, so we may have Hamburgers, Prime Rib Steaks, Tenderloin Steaks, and Honey Garlic All Beef Pepperettes back in stock hopefully by the end of the week.

One of the first things we purchased when we started farming was irrigation.  This investment seems to be one of the best made as each year there are periods like this when we need to make sure all our crops get a good drink. This week we will transplant and direct seed a lot of the fall crops, so hopefully we get some rain and a break in the heat.
We also have other produce not listed, like Corn, Beets, Cauliflower, Okra, maybe some Broccoli.  So if you don’t see what you would like feel free to ask, we are always happy to make a custom order or ask for whatever you desire.  We may or may not have it.

We have a busy week, we will be picking all our Garlic and hopefully also get Norland Red potatoes out of the ground so we have fresh new potatoes once again.  This week the Produce Bags have Basil, Red Onions, along with Garlic and Tomatoes it is Bruschetta and pesto time!
Last week I forgot to add the Ground Beef to the list, we got half a cow ground, and sold the other half.  So we should have enough Ground Beef to last until the end of August when we butcher another steer.  We are running low on Steaks, so the August butcher we will get roasts, steaks, and more.
This week is Chicken Butcher week, so if you want a fresh Chicken we will have them back to the farm around 5pm Friday evening.  If you want a fresh chicken let us know, and we will be cutting a few up and freezing the rest for pickup anytime.

We are excited as the field produce is now ready, from Kholrabi, Beets, Lettuce, and Zucchini and garlic scapes. It seems the heat came quickly and everything will be ripening!  Summer is here!
